Wind of History by Jacek Yerka
The white house road came along from the otherside!
I sit now, writing from the morning room on the south
end of my Grand parents home.
The old white car has sunk into its inevitable,
deepening rut. The house helpers had been told
" No matter what- come in from the main gate side!"
Springtime, ice, wind, snow, rain- " Do not use
the common road!" My Grand father had built his own
approach .To enhance the view. To show off the property
to its best advantage! With the lovely fan of trees.
Even though the gate has now fallen over
and the stone wall with its urns and original decor
are tumbled and crumbled - you can still hear his
edict- as if on the wind " Come to the circle driveway,
we shall meet you at the door !"

Time has passed and the welcome is no more. Sad and haunting. Very well done.
ha. very cool that the message can still be heard on the wind...rather like a ghost...and still there you sit writing...interesting history you gave this place...
NIce look back.
i like very much your imaginative interpretation of a rather enigmatic picture prompt - you've made it real, i'm hearing on the wind the haunting echoes of the grandfather's edict...
I love this! And the edict...."do not use the common road!"
Wouldn't it be great to have a fan of trees like that on your property?
You really set the picture for this prompt. :-)
Great interpretation... love the ending.
yep- the welcome mat is definitely not by the common road!
I can hear him now...

You've made a 'hearable' world...great job!

I'll bet Grandfather--who never went without a vest, had only the top front of his shirt cleaned and pressed.
Nice "take" on the picture, Izzy!
.. 'as if on the wind' ~~ love this!
"as if on the wind" and the "fan of trees". I think you breathed in this painting and "lived" it. :)
Great ending. It kind of echoes.
=)
I hear those distant words so clearly...like a tender ghost! Lovely.
Love the memory that still voices its message on the wind...
Nice one...
