Not to be Reproduced, 1937 by the Belgian surrealist René Magritte
" I have turned away from you, self
I do not accept the choices you have made
at this moment!
A school child has no right to say such things
to the heart of ourself! and I will not
look back with acceptance or forgiveness-
will not restore eye contact or recognition;
until you truly restore faith in your word ! "

So, a line in the sand can be drawn in the ether.
This goes wonderfully with image, and so creative... to turn away from self.
wow...what a thought on turning your back on yourself...could it be denying that part of yourself that lives int he darkness or...intriguing thought to this...
I like the self -reflection, though harsh is the evaluation ~
think Shakespeare got it right 'To thine own self be true'...
Dynamic and convincing...
restore faith in your word - amen.
The turning away from the self was the master stroke. Congrats.
At least the self knows enough to believe in itself to return to good faith.
A great stand-off..without forgiveness to the self....powerful!
Standing up to oneself .. never easy, but worth it.
yep- we have to lecture ourselves for sure!
Sometimes we just are surprised as not in those things that children say! A very thoughtful piece!
The self can be a stern taskmaster. Sometimes, too stern. And other times, not stern enough.
=)
Holding ourselves accountable--that is a true task indeed. Enjoyed your take on this prompt!
No eye-contact- that's a good interpretaion of the prompt. It seems harsh but sometimes a good talking-to is what's needed, even to oneself.
I really like your interpretation of the picture prompt... we don't always like what we see when we reflect upon ourselves. Escape and avoidance is much easier than facing the truth but in the end...you can't hide from the truth, it's always there!
