Woman With a Towel, 1898, Edgar Degas
Elise was quite self conscious and I walked in on her one day; just after the doctors had allowed her back brace to be removed.
"Hal!" she remonstrated me- wrapping the glorious towel up to her chin, " Why didn't you knock?!"
" I am so sorry" I scrambled and ducked out of the room very quickly, my face very hot I am sure!
The glorious hair and generous figure stuck with me- to the point of my having to attempt a
pastel sketch for myself, which I kept tucked carefully away in a desk drawer, under some books.
She never said another word to me about it, but every time I ran into her at the florist I swear her cheeks got a little rosier too!

So basically, she is extremely self-conscious, with no need to be.
Magnificent art! Glad you didn't knock!
Aloha
We've all been there- that embarrassing exposure - but at least here it was a more pleasant view accidentally on show!
Entirely believable, it happens. I know!
And nearly always there is some psychological wear-and-tear. But that slice of life is a lot more fun than SOME of my mistakes!
Well-written encounter, Izzy, and a story with no ending.....
Charming and appealing...
Such a fun little story, and a unique take on the prompt! I love the sketch tucked away in a desk drawer, where we all keep secrets.
A tale of youthful innocence, no less...
whoops! A charming vignette- have a great day!
Such a dream piece...!!
I am truly amazed how that painting has taken us venturing into new paths...
paint me in many hues, not just black
Nice post.
Aloha
This feels so real..so seductive...lucky accident!
Charming...love this...
Very charming indeed, I am the sort to blush quite easily
Interesting vignette--leaves me curious...
Nice story, rosie indeed!
haha
I would so dislike being walked in on and then having the viewer be an artist who later captures the moment for posterity in pastel.
Nice job of brining the art to life.
=)
Well... as to what Sue says... if I had a lovely image like this to immortalize myself, I'd have NO objections.
Your poem is quite ingenious that it doesn't let the reader know whether the intruder/artist is a man or a woman... and I like that.
Accidental Art..I love this!
