Young Woman Picking the Fruit of Knowledge, 1892 by Mary Cassatt

" Do you know what you are doing ? really?
                                   Alicia, I wonder..Come down please!"
I said this to the young woman who
had chosen to climb into the beautiful,
                                   blooming fruit tree.
Pink blooms, pink dress- All ready for her
                                   graduation ceremony!
She says it was because the lovely scent-
I worry for the bees! If she gets stung
we will be in the Hospital, not at the school!

And she's not worried about soiling her dress? I like how you combined the figurative and the literal in this poem. Nice write.

Worrying seems to come with the territory when watching kids move onward and upward ... your poem makes me think of my daughters and their bravado as they move onward into their lives and away from the safe ground of our family home ... great write!

Do you have a really fearless Tomboy living in your house?

My wife who died was a tree-sitter, in our early days climbing ever tree in sight. Then she would sit up there, and write poetry, or sketch for a future painting. Interesting.

Hope the gal made it to graduation, happily and on time!

I wouldn't worry, spirits such as hers must be free!
