no chairs. 10 or 12 teens hanging out

"I lit my own Marlboro's-"
Izzy, that one line evokes for me thousands of changes which evolved in only 20 years. Beautiful capture!
Other topic:
IZZY, how can I thank you (and your friend Margaret?)
I just came across this:
The title of the book is taken from the last line of the Langston Hughes poem "Dream Variations":
Rest at pale evening...
A tall slim tree...
Night coming tenderly
Black like me.
Isn't that also a marvelous line?
(I replied on my log to your comment, but wrote it here in case you are like most--never go back!)
THANKS AGAIN! Several people who know of my fascination with this topic are also happy that YOUR blog came through with the answer.)
:-)
I think I was there..and frayed jeans are still in! Imagine...thanks for the memory..
I had a pair of those. Your poem took me back to those lingering summer days ...I think I'll dwell there a little while longer...
Those were the good old days. Simple boy-girl days, no FB nor cell phones, just innocence! Nicely Izzy!

Ah, The Picnic at Hanging Rock !
Love the independence the 'you go girl' vibe in your poem ...
oh yeah baby!
smiles...it makes me think of the movie dirty dancing...and of times snuck out to join in the fun...
I love how even the manner of the cigarette evolves here!!
The reference to Danskin made me smile!
The times they were a-changin'.
Well done.
=)
Brings me back to a time ... like words should.
