Mag 174, Spring

Stanley Kubrick for Look Magazine, 1949

20 years later- There was a rag tag scene:

in the woods by a pond,

Boat house doors wide open to the night.

Fire outside rather than in.

A keg set on a picnic table

no chairs. 10 or 12 teens hanging out

in the dark, on any given Saturday night.

The bell bottom hip huggers

with torn and frayed hems

scoop neck Danskin top.

Curly long hair dangling in eyes,

I lit my own Marlboro's-

Izzy, that one line evokes for me thousands of changes which evolved in only 20 years. Beautiful capture!

Other topic:
IZZY, how can I thank you (and your friend Margaret?)
I just came across this:

The title of the book is taken from the last line of the Langston Hughes poem "Dream Variations":

Rest at pale evening...
A tall slim tree...
Night coming tenderly
Black like me.

Isn't that also a marvelous line?

(I replied on my log to your comment, but wrote it here in case you are like most--never go back!)

THANKS AGAIN! Several people who know of my fascination with this topic are also happy that YOUR blog came through with the answer.)
:-)

I had a pair of those. Your poem took me back to those lingering summer days ...I think I'll dwell there a little while longer...

Those were the good old days. Simple boy-girl days, no FB nor cell phones, just innocence! Nicely Izzy!
