Flash Fiction 55: Brother

Longing for when "Good seeing you "
isn't playing soccer or football.
Teach me to walk in a crowd
and be comfortable-
Not being held at arms length,
or left standing outside a wrought iron gate,
Not watching how many
geographical's happen within your day-
Being at an equal speed,
in orbit around the same sun ...

Now see, I thank my luck stars that many of the people I know "socially" don't really mean "see you later!" Ha! I'd rather be at the barn with my horse. If I get invited to one more "jewelry" party, I'm going to scream.

People are often too distant these days, even when they're nearby.

Conversational depth seems scarce at times. But trust is a huge factor.

Great 55 here! I did not have children, which is good because I think I would have been a terrible soccer mom. Social settings are uncomfortable because they combine people with possibly only one thing in common and expect that they get along as old friends. Just miserable stuff for me. :)
