Flash fiction 55 12/17/10

Sometimes we get to help
free a prisoner
who did not know
she was being held-

From a darkish basement
hidden behind curtains,
in her daughters house.

Bring her and her little dog
to a place,
with her own kitchen and bath

her own closet,
tables and chairs-
light pouring in
and friends reaching out.

sounds like a great redemption story...and how easy not to realise you are the one trapped...

Eerie, but comforting. I can identify, or should I say, I would like to identify with both the rescued and the kind rescuer...

Would love to hear the prompt behind this one. Very nice.

This makes me wonder of the inspiration. What a gift that is...freedom. We so often take it completely for granted.
