Plow furrows in greening fields bend tightly
a gorge of waterways
once straight, turn sharply
as if around the stones of bone.
The blue and grey of clouds
seem pressed toward the horizon,
afterwards the wind comes through,
overnight all will shift and open
as if God has shrugged his shoulder
and then relaxed once more
a gorge of waterways
once straight, turn sharply
as if around the stones of bone.
The blue and grey of clouds
seem pressed toward the horizon,
afterwards the wind comes through,
overnight all will shift and open
as if God has shrugged his shoulder
and then relaxed once more

smiles..your last bit there made me smile in its explanation....as if around bone is great as well earlier...i like...
What if God Farted instead of shrugged?
Your post seems so Biblical.
But I loved your imagry Izzy
And I loved your 55
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
Oh, I love this, especially the last two lines.
Nicely descriptive 55, Izzy... it feels like the storm has passed.
I like God's shrug and going around stone bones. They really stand out, but also work so well with all the rest.
A vivid and simple poem of nature at work and play for us. Great 55.
Gorgeous!
Love the sense of the earth swelling with new life. I can see those green furrows.
A wonderful 55 that reminded me of the looks of the farm fields around here after the late winter rains and before the spring planting.
Don't know if I will ever look at a furrowed field without the image of God shrugging... loved that.
Yes some great imagery and something we'll be seeing soon here in upstate NY, look forward to reading more.
