FF55, 4/13/12, When I am sad like yesterday,

With friends losing people
they love and have loved for so long
the fit of a kid glove doesn't even begin to describe it.

I rub shoulders or arms
because anything more may have brought tears
beyond what these folk were ready for just then.
Afterward I go find a horse to lose myself in.

Well done.

It is difficult to know how much of a comforting shoulder to offer to be the best of help--also, and as you said, trying not to trigger any of our own pain.

i feel you here...and we need to take that time ourselves just to process and deal witht he emotions of others...a horse may be the perfect place...smiles.

This poem, so simply and beautifully written, touched me deeply. My mother died two weeks ago. I appreciated my friends, their words of comfort and their shoulders.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is hard to know how how much 'comfort' to offer sometimes. I have found much solace over the years losing myself in a horse. I hope it was healing for you.

Sad and wise writing, and full of sympathy for the human condition--all boiling down to caring about others, and also knowing one will have one's own griefs too someday. Glad you have a horse to help--an excellent 55.

Beautiful, Izzy. Your capacity to care for others is fed by your capacity to care for yourself. Such lovely balance.
