A bound and folded stone,
a piece laid down
from an old newspaper obituary
'It is white' The witch thought
'To remind us of the bones
in Moonlight.'
Ne'er mind the dates of birth and death,
ne'er mind the name...
'All has been boiled rightly
and placed where it will be
seen the most'
Beware. She turns in sweeping
black, so much
a thin angled shadow
there is only a glimpse
of bent bristle on the tip
of broom, as she launches
a mere wisp of sound
for any mortal nearby
to sense.

Well, I would say this is the perfect Halloween poem. It captures its essence beautifully and with a mere wisp of sound!
Fun Halloween rendering here. Nice Mag. Love and Light, Sender
I'd agree. A poem for October 31st.

"..She turns in sweeping

a thin angled shadow.." You have painted a wonderful image with these words.

Oh, I like this a lot. Well done.
Nice eerie feel for Halloween and the spooks to come this weekend.
Thank you also for stopping by my blog, and for the 'tightening' suggestion. Most of it had flowed well, but there were some parts that I struggled to find the phrases I was looking for. So yes, probably does need more.
Happy weekend!
YAY! A proper feel of Halloween here! I'm such a big kid this time of year.......
Perfect. Timely and delightful!
Izzy, reading pieces like yours here make me EVER-so-sad...that I'm leaving the blog-life. Thanks for your many comments (everywhere) and your fine blog posts.
AND best of all, your on-going story of recovery!
PEACE!

I very much like this poem that has more than a hint of Poe to it!
