"Burrow down and pray"
He bowed in respect,
got out of his shoes
grabbed the shovel
stepped into the circle of gorse
and began to dig a space for himself.
As soon as he was finished
he would kneel like a little scarab
within the circle of thorny protection;
and give thanks for
all the wonders in his life.

love the reverence in this...and thankfulness is a great posture...
The scarab is a great sacred detail that adds to this brief but full piece.
I love this:

That's quite an image; I like the idea of a thorny protection,.
Excellent imagery.

I love the notion of burrowing down to pray...
Thankful in the circle of gorse - a lovely sense.
I've heard of a dugout canoe, but a dugout nest is something else again! Well done! LOL

Got a sense of earth being a dung beetle on a cosmicvscale, me being a dung beetle on earth , thanks for the launch pad, houston !
I like this take on the picture prompt. I'm no poet but I like to look at the prompts and think to myself what they remind me of.
